Field & Fork is a family restaurant and events business run by Sam and Janet Mahoney.

In 2008 they opened their first restaurant in Baffins Court, Chichester before moving to the city’s iconic Pallant House Gallery restaurant followed by a year running the Chichester Festival Theatre’s restaurants during the theatre’s major refurbishment. In 2014 they realised Sam’s dream of owning their own independent restaurant located in Guildhall Street, Chichester.

Meanwhile in 2012, Field & Fork were appointed as the resident caterers at the newly refurbished Southend Barns, one of the most beautiful and successful wedding and event venues on the South coast, situated 4 miles south of Chichester.

Sam, chef patron of Field & Fork, has been a chef since his teens, working as an apprentice for the Roux Brothers of Gavroche fame. After three years at their three-star Michelin London restaurant, he worked at other international Roux businesses where he met his wife and business partner Janet, who was running their front of house operations. New York and Japan beckoned too for the pair prior to moving to Sussex, Janet’s home county. After Sam’s stint at Rowley Leigh’s famed Kensington Place as head chef, he and Janet launched Field & Fork.

“I’ve been cooking for 26 years and I’ve never been so happy or so sure that this is the right thing to do,” Sam says. “It’s very nice to have arrived at this point.”
